Men Vs Women; Why Are We Different?

The question of men and women being different really came to my mind after we watched the skit by Dave Chappelle considering the differences between men and women. Since I was able to relate to some of the statements that Chappelle made, I decided to look into whether the difference in thinking of men and women is due to biological reasons or is it the gender roles we learn throughout our lives.

When it comes to biological differences, are the differences in men and women's thinking embedded into our genetics and instincts? Do women think with their feelings because it is in their instincts to care for and raise children? And do men constantly cheat on their wives because they have the instinct embedded in their brains to "spread the seed"? Rooted deeply in our genetics theses questions have some validity. Many men refer to themselves as a lion, the king of the jungle, but do these lions have monogamous relationships? No, they live in prides and their main goal is to pass on their genes and its never with only one lioness, more partners equals higher success rates.

Maybe the differences in men and women's thinking is socially constructed and learned throughout childhood. Is it possible that women think with their feelings because that is what their mothers and peers have exposed them to? For example, I unfortunately watched the reunion to the reality TV show, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and here I witnessed these wives openly and repeatedly saying "I feel..." and they even got to the point of tears multiple times. On the other hand in the reality show the Ultimate Fighter, you will rarely see a male fighter say he feels like he lost the fight, instead, they would most likely make excuses and attempt to show that they worked hard and fought hard, but something happened that was out of their control. From an early age boys are taught to be strong and invincible while showing little to no emotion, and at times may be scolded for showing feminine attributes.

So why are men and women so different in their thinking is it due to biological factors or is it because of social construction and the gender roles we are assigned at a young age?
